Beautiful World

|

Beautiful World
Beautiful world, beautiful world
This is our home, our only home
How I pray, it always will stay
Stay beautiful, beautiful world.
Vs.1
Four score is a long time to me
Four billion years earth has seen.
As such we are the blink of an eye
what do we know in such a short time?
Below the sea, great barrier reef,
Above the clouds, snowy mountain peaks
rolling, endless windswept desert sands
the tranquil vibrant life in the wetlands.
CHORUS 2
Vs.2
Into the blue waters I dive
High up to the alpine ridge I climb
I harvest the field for my bread
cut timber for the roof over my head
Its by the grace of this earth we do live
By the wonder and bounty that it gives
I strive to understand all in my gaze
humbled, grateful, and amazed

Iced Tea
04:26
|
|||
Iced tea
They would watch the sun go down
They would watch the planes fly over
They would swat mosquitos off
In the backyard of the house at Andover
They would have instant ice tea
She smoked Salems, he smoked Luckys,
the lawn chairs were all from Sears
In the backyard in the summer in the evening
And it was lovely, all the stars you could see
And the fireflies were magical out by the old pine trees
And the neighbors would come by and shoot the breeze
They were surely getting very buzzed
On that way-too-sweet iced tea.
Who would see the very first star?
Every 10 minuets, psssst! more bug spray
the phone rang in the kitchen back then
but they let it ring to sit together.
And they were happy, done pulling all the weeds.
from the garden were fresh tomatoes, asparagus and peas.
and the family would laugh and joke and tease.
We had this old hand-crank ice crusher, and still yet more iced tea.
That was very long ago
They sold the house and moved to Carolina
Now I watch the sun go down
And I'm missing them
At the long days end
In our old backyard
in the evening.

Driverless Cars
04:26
|
|||
Driverless cars!
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait for driverless cars
it'll be totally amazingly great, driverless cars
No more texters or speeders or snails
Or that moron with his hi beams on your tail.
the roads will finally be safe with driverless cars.
You will love, love, love a world of driverless cars.
Tap an app, your car comes, drops you off, then goes and parks
If you're stopped by a state trooper
You just shrug and point to the computer.
You got auto-pilot on easy street, driverless cars.
Have no fear, the technology's here.
No more riding with divorced uncle Bob who's been drunk for eight years.
Distracted drivers are the true cause of terror
Studies show that humans are the leading cause of human error.
Take the jerk from behind the wheel: driverless cars
Fine wine and dine in my driverless car.
A little steak tartare, perhaps a Pinot Noir
There's some white wine in the fridge
Look, we're crossing Brooklyn bridge
Bon appetite, have a cigar, in my driverless car.
Driving to my gig strumming guitar.
Writing songs about life on the road is so hard.
Then I'll take a nap
Reclining in the back
Maybe a little nightcap in my driverless car.
There's only one way to make this work,
one way for our roads to be safe:
Make human driving illegal in the United States.
You laugh now - just you wait.
driverless cars will be so fine.
Think about it, you can be drunk all the time!
making out with your date
Barreling down the interstate
open up that mini bar,
Take us to the Mardi Gras,
So long, farewell, au revoir. Driverless cars!

Days to Years
03:51
|
|||
Days to years
1.
When the light was golden
When our eyes were open
All of us just finding ourselves
Innocence of young hearts
Harmony in four parts, polyphony
No way of knowing
Where were we going
The music remains,
But the days changed to years.
2.
Then to each our calling
Climbing, sometimes falling
Fortunes hand, ever changing plans
Some to hold traditions
Some to bold ambitions
Scattering
Just one time
Stars aligned
Hearts and minds
In the days of those years
3.
I still feel connection
Look back with affection
Discovering why I sing
I close my eyes and listen
Counterpoint, unison,
Echoing
a joyful song
a time long gone
When we belonged
To those days
I stand here
and I still hear
the voices clear
In the days of those years

My Little Pot Plant
04:54
|
|||
My little pot plant
Damn squirrel ate my little pot plant
bit off all the leaves
made me so damn mad
I wanted it to grow into a tree
now you know its true if your a stoner
that a cute little pot plant is great
its a thing of joy and beauty
especially after harvest day
now I'm gonna get this little bugger
he's sitting there on the rail
I got my .22 on my arm
and he's staring and wagging his tail
and I got him in the crosshairs
and I'm gonna blast him up to the sky
but when he turns to see me coming
he's got these big red dopey glassy eyes.
so this squirrel is totally wasted
now I swear to god this is true:
he starts to giggling and laughing.
then I just had to laugh too
I couldn't do him no harm,
if fact I thought it was kind of nice
that I could share my fellow creature
a little piece of paradise
then I sat down and smoked me a fatty
and i watched him fall on his ass
and then I fell right on my ass
We just laughed and laughed
Cute little squirrel that ate my pot plant
We had a real good time
He comes around every 2nd Tuesday
And now he is a friend of mine.

Badass Bikers

Badass Bikers
1.
Badass bikers with the bellies and the beards
squeaky black leather, spikey pierced ears
Reving the engines, grinding the gears
Badass bikers with the bellies and the beards
Varoom.
2.
So outlaw, with a sense of fashion
On a crusade, some kind of religion
a brotherhood of übermenschen
on some wacko mission of sedition.
Chor.
They gonna ride ride ride
On the loudest piece of shit they can find
And the chrome all shiny shine
They packing a pistol, keep it in mind.
Varoom.
3.
Badass bikers rule the road.
Get out of the way, its the Biker code.
Vulture culture, skull and bones.
so Badass they eat their own.
4.
Badass bikers ride so fast
Always itching to kick some ass.
Best to avoid, leave them alone.
Its just gasoline and testosterone.
chor. 2
5.
Badass bikers with the gothic tattoos
And their biker babes with the big bouncing boobs
Internal combustion, they going for a cruise
Rock & roll highway with the heavy metal blues
6.
Badass bikers guzzling beer.
Right out of a circus, it's just weird.
There they are now, in my rear view mirror,
Badass bikers with the big big bellies and the beards.
Varoom.

The Golden Thread

The Golden Thread
1.
You may leave my side
you will never leave my heart.
across the veils of time
forever a flame lights the dark.
I will be your lover
I will be your friend
We are bound together
by golden thread.
2. A mandala is made
each soul one grain of sand.
a tapestry of man
woven by love's own hand
You will be my lover
you will be my friend
woven together
with golden thread.

What's Happened to Us
03:08
|
|||
What's happened to us?
We used to have a good life
Now all the money's gone
I'm feeling so afraid now
Don't know how we’re gonna get along.
We were once so proud
Of our little house,
Now they wanna foreclose and throw us out.
I just can't believe
this is my country.
What's happened to us?
My Jenny's working part time
By the hour $6.25
I used to frame up houses
Now it's four years since I was fired.
I don't ask for much
But I'm out of luck,
I'm praying for something good to come.
Cause we can't get by
We can't survive
What's happened to us?
They say the bankers stole the billions
And the politicians looked the other way.
Now there’s people by the millions
Are losing everything they saved.
I don't understand
How in this land
We seemed to stopp caring for our fellow man.
Where's our brotherhood?
for common good?
What's happened to us?
What's happened to us in the U.S.?

Children in the Garden
05:39
|
|||
Children in the Garden
Today I lay beside my open window
warm sun and springtime breezes blow
I hear the little shrieks of joy and laughter
Coming from the courtyard below
Chor.
Children playing in the garden
children playing in a magic garden
we are all but children in the garden
children playing in a magic garden
2.
we are astronauts and engineers,
poets, politicians, science pioneers.
we are biologists, theologists,
architects, alchemists,
searching every part of the sphere
Chor.
3.
We have a little time in the sun
but we will be all gone when earth is done
Let us celebrate our joy and our love
beautiful as we are- its enough.
Chor

Not Really Gone
02:30
|
|||
Not Really Gone
Your time together ends,
But your love goes on.
When you lose someone you've love,
well they're not really gone.
The heart still believes,
Though fate intervenes.
the chasm is so wide,
Still you hold them inside.
Love like a telephone line
Talk to them anytime
Across the endless void
You will hear their voice.
The heart will surely break
But you must stay strong.
When you lose someone you've love,
They're not really gone.
When you love someone you've lost,
They're not really gone.
